Car history: |
Exterior: The Elkhart Green metallic paintjob is in very presentable driver condition. The chrome and stainless bright work is in nice shape. The convertible top is in great condition and the rear window has not fogged or yellowed at all. The tires look almost brand new. There are some spots and bubbles in the paint around the car that were too small to show up in photos, but no major blemishes have been excluded. The worst spots are visible in the photos on the top of the right fender/near the right headlight and just in front of the hood where the original rivets are visible as small pattern. This was actually done intentionally by the previous owner who had the car painted because according to him it is original and shows the front end to be in good shape. This car still retains all of its original glass. Both side windows and the windshield are dated "AN" or September of 1971, which is correct as it predates the build date of the car. Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage. Interior: The Saddle Leather interior of the corvette is in superb condition. This car is an original medium Saddle Leather car as indicated by the trim pad number, 421. The entire interior was freshened within the past couple years with the highest quality parts from Al Knoch. The seats look great and show minimal wear with absolutely no splits, tears, or stains. The carpet is in excellent condition and looks virtually brand new. There are no rips, holes, or damage in the carpet at all. This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected. The door panels are in great condition and unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit very well and tight to the door. The dash and center consol look nice with sun fading. The stock radio works and plays, but gets poor reception. Like almost all Corvettes from this era, the clock does not work. Mechanical: This Corvette drives awesome. The way this car feels on the road it one of its best attributes. This car is virtually 100% turn key and needs nothing. It starts up quickly, runs well, and idles well. This Corvette has plenty of power; it is very fast. The transmission is a three speed automatic. The car shifts smoothly through the engines power band. The brakes are powerful, stop well, and do not pull. The headlights and wiper door pop up quickly with no effort or binding what so ever. The pull down vacuum switches for the headlights and wiper door work as well. All of the interior and exterior lights work. Even the a/c works and blows cold, although the blower motor makes some noise. It is tight on the road and at highway speeds. I cannot emphasize enough what a pleasure it is to drive this car especially with the top down on a nice day. Overall Condition: Overall the vehicle is in splendid driver condition. The previous owner was meticulous about his caring for the vehicle. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, and as you can see this car very original and correct. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is C19. 26,308 miles from the odometer. April 13, 2010. |
